There’s been speculation over Jose Mourinho’s future at United, but the latest news suggests that the board is backing the manager.
Manchester United is in a midst of turmoil at the moment. The club is currently 10th in the Premier League with only 10 points in seven matches. Jose Mourinho’s side plays Newcastle United at Old Trafford later tonight, where Manchester United are winless since the Premier League opener against Leicester City.
Last night, it was reported that Jose Mourinho will be sacked from Manchester United, regardless of the outcome of the match against Newcastle. Daily Mirror claimed that the United board has made up its mind on parting ways with the Portuguese boss, who has not delivered results this season.
Manchester United are already out in their very first round of the Carabao Cup, and lost three games in the Premier League already.
Jose Mourinho’s future at United:
However, the latest reports coming in from English media outlet BBC suggest that the board is set to retain trust on Jose Mourinho. BBC reporter Simon Stone revealed that Manchester United is backing the Portuguese boss and will not be sacking him after the Newcastle game.
G Neville: “Jose Mourinho will get the biggest support he’s ever had in his life tomorrow at that ground and I’ll be there to give it to him. If this is true and it’s broken the day before, it’s an absolute disgrace. Where’s the values and principles of United?” #mufc [Sky]

The air around the Old Trafford is fairly negative and there is a good reason for it.
Word I am hearing is that Jose Mourinho is not going anywhere. Retains support of board to turn @ManUtd present situation around.

Jose Mourinho’s side dropped points at Valencia in the Champions League this week. United also lost to West Ham in the Premier League last weekend, after crashing out of their first knock-out match in the Carabao Cup to lower-league side Derby County.
The club was also marred by controversy last week when midfielder Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho were caught arguing during a training session.
Results will determine Mourinho’s future as has been the case all season.

Pogba has, on occasions, criticized Jose Mourinho’s tactics throughout the season. After the match against Valencia, he stated that he has been banned from giving interviews.
What next?
Manchester United await a tough set of fixtures ahead of Newcastle United. As the players return from the international break, Manchester United face Chelsea and Juventus on the trot. They return to Premier League with games against Everton and Bournemouth, before traveling to Turin.
“We expect a difficult match [against Newcastle],” says the boss. “They are a team that is always very organised and their manager is always very well organised on his analysis of his opponents.” #MUFC

It is important for United, hence, to get a result against Newcastle in an attempt to bring their season back on track.
