KKR support staff for IPL 2020: Kolkata Knight Riders appoint new mentor and bowling coach

KKR support staff for IPL 2020: Kolkata Knight Riders have announced their complete support staff for IPL 2020.

Having appointed a new head coach in former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum a couple of months ago, Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders have appointed a new chief mentor and bowling coach for IPL 2020.

The development was made public after Kolkata Knight Riders took to their Twitter account to announce that former Australia all-rounder David Hussey and former New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Mills have been appointed as the chief mentor and bowling coach respectively.

Much like McCullum, Hussey has also represented KKR during his playing days. Other than KKR, Hussey has also played for Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab in the IPL. In 267 T20s, Hussey has scored 6,097 runs at an average of 30.03 and a strike rate of 133.20 including one century and 31 half-centuries.

On the other hand, Mills had played for Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab in the IPL. In 98 T20s that he played, Mills had dismissed 105 batsmen at an average of 27.10, an economy rate of 8.10 and a strike rate of 20.

While Hussey had last played for Australia in 2013, Mills had last played for New Zealand in 2015. With McCullum, Hussey and Mills on-board as the main support staff, Knight Riders would be looking forward to lift their third IPL title in 2020.

It is worth mentioning that the IPL auction for the next season will be held on December 19 this year. With a complete supporting team at their disposal, KKR’s next aim would be to pick an optimum combination for IPL 2020.
