Kofi Kingston: WWE Champion out with an injury. He made the announcement on a Live Event at Glens Falls on Monday night.
Kofi Kingston’s rise to the top has been nothing short of a fairy tale. A man who seemed destined to end up as a forever mid-carder now sits on top of the card of the biggest wrestling promotion in the world.

The Dreadlocked dynamo was given a chance to showcase what he was capable of in a gauntlet match. He took the opportunity by the scruff of the neck and is yet to slow down.
Kofi Kingston defeated Daniel Bryan at the Show of Shows to win his first ever WWE champion. He then defeated the former champ once again on an episode of Raw to put Bryan out of the title picture.
Kofi then set his sights on friend turned foe Kevin Owens. After dispatching him at Money in the Bank, Kofi was reunited with a familiar foe. Ziggler ambushed Kofi and announced his desire to dethrone the pancake tossing champion as the top guy in the company. However, Ziggler failed in his two attempts and Kofi once again reigned supreme. At least until Samoa Joe showed up.
The Samoan Submission machine brutalized Kofi and handed him his first defeat since wrestlemania a week later. Joe was announced as Kofi’s next victim and it looked like the champion was on course to face his toughest opponent yet. However, following the events at a live event, the possibility of that match happening is now in Jeopardy.
Storyline or legit?
In a live event at Glens Falls, Kofi Kingston announced that he was suffering from an injury and would therefore not wrestle. Lords of pain have announced that the WWE Champion was scheduled to wrestle in a live event on Monday but pulled out. However, he did come out to celebrate New Day’s victory over the B-Team. He reportedly “danced around with the New Day” and “tossed pancakes into the crowd,” as well as hanging out to sign autographs for fans after the event.

There is no word on the legitimacy of the injury at the moment. However, it would be wise to consider that since and before the introduction of the Wild Card rule, Kofi has appeared on both SmackDown and Raw almost every week. The man has truly proven to be a workhorse for the company. His body though, may now be feeling the effects of it.
He is currently scheduled for the upcoming episode of SmackDown. Hopefully the WWE will offer more clarity on Kofi Kingston’s injury status.
