Le Sommer goal Vs South Korea: Watch French striker score first goal of Women’s World Cup 2019
Le Sommer goal Vs South Korea: Watch French striker score first goal of the Women’s World Cup 2019 against South Korea.
The much anticipated event of this year, started with an early surprise, as France scored the earliest goal in the opening game of any Women’s World Cup.
The hosts France are one of the favourites to secure the title this year, as most of the players in the French squad are from Lyon, who are dominating the European women football presently.
Additionally, Les Bleus have a home advantage and would be wishing to replicate the men’s team, who won the World Cup at home, 21 years ago.
However, France showed that they are the serious contenders in the tournament when Le Sommer scored an early goal in the opening match of the World Cup against South Korea.
The goal was a phenomenal display by France, as captain Amandine Henry took the ball far wide on the right-flank to pass the ball inside while finding Sommer inside the 18-yard-box.
The accurate pass was received by the 30-year-old striker, which enabled her to find the gap to place the ball inside the goal. It was a fine touch by Sommer to give an early lead to Les Bleus, as Korean failed to keep their goal safe.
France have a significant advantage over South Korea, they just have to maintain the game while widening the gap on the scoreboard.
