LeBron had suffered the injury during Lakers’ Christmas game agains the Warriors, one that they won comfortably.
However, they were hit with a massive blow when James was forced to hobble off the court due to a groin pull, when he was trying to go in for a loose ball.
The injury was initially considered to not be a very serious one, and the Lakers were hopeful of LeBron returning after a game o two. But things haven’t really panned out that well for LeBron and the Lakers.

With LeBron still out and the exact extent of the groin injury not known to the public, multiple reports have been circulating with respect to the extent of the injury and how it is more severe than just a groin one.
A report from OnSmash.com last night suggested that the groin injury had actually transformed into a Sports hernia injury and would need at least another month of treatment before LeBron could get back onto the court.
Also, for in injury of such kind, LeBron will need to play through pain al through the season, something that seriously hamper Lakers’ chances of making it to the playoffs and then going deep in them.
Now, Luke Walton addressed the media for the game against Pistons, issuing an official statement on LeBron James’ injury amidst all the speculations regarding this new ‘sports hernia’ injury.
A re-assessment is scheduled for this Friday before the Lakers take a final call on James’ participation further on this season. Missing the Utah game would be James’ 9th straight game on the sidelines.
LeBron James remains out indefinitely.

“This might have been inferred earlier, but Luke Walton just confirmed that LeBron James is not traveling to Utah.
“He’s scheduled to have his medical re-evaluation Friday in LA.” Lakers reporter Kyle Goon had tweeted.
Lakers have found it tough in LeBron’s absence, as they have managed to win just 2 out of their 7 games(although they have a healthy lead in the game against the Pistons at the moment).
With the business end of the season looming large, Lakers need LeBron to get back to full fitness and once again lead the Lakers to crucial wins.
However, according to the statements coming in from the Lakers and the reports that are circulating, all does not seem well in the LeBron and the Lakers camp.
An injury that was initially suspected to keep him out just for a game or two has now stretched to 9 games, with no concrete update on when he could be back.
