Lionel Messi averages more goals and assists than Cristiano Ronaldo in International football, even though Ronaldo have way more goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo once again made headlines as he scored four more goals for Portugal against Lithuania last night, and have reached to the tally of 93 goals and stands at the top in the tally of active International goalscorers and only 17 goals shy of Ali Daei, who has the most number of International goals for Iran.

On the other hand, Lionel Messi is way behind Ronaldo with 68 goals for Argentina, and stands at the 11th position in the tally of most number of goals scored by an individual, even behind Indian striker Sunil Chhetri, who has 72 international goals.

Despite it, Messi boasts better average in goals and assists than Ronaldo in International football, as the Argentine superstar in 136 games has scored 68 goals and registered 44 assists, a goal involvement average of 0.82.

Whereas, as for Ronaldo, he has managed 93 goals and 37 assists in his 160 games, working out an average of 0.81 goal involvements per game.

Although, a very thin margin but it shows how competitive is the competition between the two legends, as they always remain neck-to-neck with each other, which makes both of them even better.

However, in the recent past, Ronaldo has been able to boast better accolades with his national team, as Portugal in the span of three years under the guidance of Ronaldo has been able to win Euro 2016 and UEFA Nations league.

Hence, several fans asserts that this aspect separates Ronaldo from Messi, as the latter has failed to win anything significant with Argentina. This argument is worth considering too but in the end this rivalry is worth enjoying until it lasts.

The pair enters into the last phase of its incredible career, and yet the two are able to give extra-ordinary performances day in and out.
