Lionel Messi on Ronaldo: Barcelona captain claims to miss Cristiano Ronaldo in La Liga and opened about his relations with him.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are undoubtedly among the best players to ever grace the game. Their rivalry in the Spanish league has to go down as the greatest rivalry to ever happen in football.
Both players forced each other to out-compete themselves and it made La Liga even more excited as the competition between the fierce rival clubs grew because of Ronaldo and Messi.
Even though, they used to be constantly in a tussle but always respected each other off the field and shared a warm relation.
However, the Portuguese International chose to leave Spain for Juventus, thus, it took away the charm from the rivalry, as Ronaldo moving away reduced the day-to-day competition and intensity.
Moreover, Ronaldo’s departure also affected Real Madrid as they suffered to fill in the void created by the move. Thus, enabling Barcelona to dominate Los Blancos this season.
Therefore, Messi in an interaction with the Fox Sport talked about his relations with Ronaldo and how his departure affected the competition and the rivalry.
Of course I miss Ronaldo, he made Real Madrid stronger. I said that they were going to feel the exit of Cristiano, as it would have happened to any team,” Messi said.
He added: “A few people got angry but it’s a reality, he scored 50 goals per season for them and it was a key factor in their success. The whole league misses him now.”
“We did not have much of a relationship. We knew each other only from matches and at award ceremonies, but we always had good vibes and often talk too,” he concluded.
The Argentine International said what the whole football fraternity presently thinks after the 33-year-old footballer made a move. The La Liga is not same without Ronaldo.
