Liverpool Guard Of Honour: Manchester City pays tribute Premier League rivals over league win

Liverpool Guard Of Honour: Manchester City gives tribute to Premier League rivals Liverpool over winning the league against them.

Manchester City as promised gave the guard of honour to Liverpool, in respect to the Premier League triumph by their league rivals. The Reds’ squad marched on the pitch, while the Citizens created two files to pay respect to Liverpool.

Liverpool won the league under record the least number of matchdays. Liverpool’s title reign came earlier as Manchester City was defeated by Chelsea in the last fixture.

Otherwise, Liverpool might have had to wait for some more time to be called as the league champions, and also Manchester City could have avoided giving the guard of honour.

This incident is surely a significant event as Manchester City and Liverpool have been a part of closely-knitted title battles since last two seasons and this time Liverpool came out better than Pep Guardiola’s side.

Meanwhile, the season before this Liverpool faced a huge heartbreak after they lost the league title to Manchester City by a point. Before this Liverpool had been waiting for their first league title in 30 years.

And finally, the Merseyside club managed to get hold of it. Despite, Liverpool getting a guard of honour today at the Etihad Stadium, they are having a tough time in Manchester.

In less than 35 minutes, Manchester City managed to grab 2 goals against Liverpool, first one came after Kevin De Bruyne successfully converted the penalty to open the score after Raheem Sterling was fouled by Joe Gomez.

Soon, Sterling then doubled the tally after a mesmerizing attack by Manchester City. Nevertheless, even if Liverpool loses, it will not take anything away from the club.

But surely it will do a huge upliftment to the morale and dignity of Manchester City, who had a rough patch in the league this season.
