Liverpool Transfer News: Jurgen Klopp receives huge uplift as Leipzig manager dismisses Bayern rumours

Ralf Rangnick has made an official statement on Timo Werner’s future as Jurgen Klopp receives a huge uplift.

The future of Timo Werner remains in the air as RB Leipzig have made an official statement. The German International has turned down a new offer on the table from the club which expires in 2020.

In order to spawn funds, Leipzig manager is not ready to let him leave in a free transfer next summer. Rangnick has confirmed that there have been no official contacts from any other clubs, including Bayern Munich. The 24-year-old has been linked with the Germain giants over the last few months, but there has been no communication with the Bavarians.

RB Leipzig are well-positioned after unveiling Julien Nagelsmann as their new manager. The German International will take over the club in 2020, but he has not been able to convince Werner to stay put at Red Bull Arena.

“I would not be so sure that [Werner] will actually go to Bayern,” Rangnick told Sport Bild.

“If Bayern were absolutely sure about Timo, they would have already officially contacted us with a request. Anything else would be unusual for Bayern, especially since we have a good relationship with them.

“Our position has not changed: we do not want him to go into the last year of his contract without an extension.

“He can leave this summer when a club comes who is willing to pay a suitable transfer fee.”

The 23-year-old has scored 50 goals in 93 appearances for RB Leipzig, who secured a return to the Champions League after finishing third in the league table.

Timo Werner is in no hurry, but he could leave if a suitable offer arrives. Liverpool have been long-term admirers of the forward and they will have one eye on this situation. Leipzig will be prepared to listen to offers around £30 million in order to not let him for free.
