Liverpool Vs Norwich City : Five points to take away with Canaries demolition at the Anfield

Liverpool Vs Norwich City : Five points to take away with the Reds thrashing the Canaries in the first game of the Premier League 2019/20.

Liverpool have shown that they are the definite contenders to win the Premier League this season, as their exploitation against Norwich City has cited their brilliance with ruthless attacking football.

Jurgen Klopp’s side haven’t been as brilliant as they usually are, but they still managed to end their chances to see themselves demolishing the newly promoted Norwich City in the first game-day of the league.

The Canaries luck against Liverpool is still not over, as they have failed to defeat them even once in the last 12 encounters, and most of the times remained defeated by the Reds.

Today also Liverpool were considered favourites but still such a gulf was not expected. The Kopites with their first four goals in the first half ended the match then and there only.

However, several schoolboy errors and unfortunate events made Norwich City ‘s performance unpleasant. In the first goal, the blunder by Grant Hanley against Divock Origi’s shot was converted into an own goal.

Further, Mohamed Salah extended the lead after several schoolboy errors by the Canaries defence propelled the Egyptian International to score.

Later, Liverpool did not spare the visitors, as a standing header goal by Virgil Van Dijk, and Origi’s goal ended the match with the Reds taking the three points home.

Although, Norwich City were able to take a consolation goal home, as a goal by Teemu Pukki made the score-line into 4-1. Thus, this short-lived match has a lot to point out. So, without further ado, we talk about five points in the match to talk about.

#5 Norwich City came prepared but failed

Liverpool Vs Norwich City

In the initial minutes of the match, Norwich City showed a good fight, and it seemed that the newly-promoted side might damage the Reds, and it won’t be easy for Jurgen Klopp’s side tonight.

Daniel Farke is known for the brand of football, which is also played by Klopp and Liverpool have been successful in the same system too, but the Canaries failed to replicate the same thing which the Kopites were able to do.

In fact, after conceding the first goal, the visitors seemed distressed, and it looked like the opposition are losing the will to make a comeback in the match, which eventually allowed Liverpool to dominate further and find the net again and again.

#4 Nervous Norwich City bullied by Liverpool

Liverpool Vs Norwich City

As mentioned in the previous point, everything went downhill for Norwich City after they conceded the first goal. The inexperienced defence line of Norwich City made mistakes, and in return, Liverpool did not spare even a chance.

Several errors by the Canaries were schoolboy ones. During Mohamed Salah’s goal, the defence looked clueless, and since they did not know the location of the ball, the Egyptian International swept the ball away and scored past Tim Krul.

Moreover, Liverpool were also able to physically dominate Norwich City players. Van Dijk while scoring did not even jump to even out-beat his marksman to make the score 3-0. The physical superiority by Van Dijk bullied Norwich City defence.

Probably, if Norwich did not have conceded the first goal so early, the fight in this match could have been even more intense, as Norwich, in the beginning, looked prepared.

#3 First goal of the season is an own goal

Everybody remained stunned when the first goal of the new season of the Premier League came as a surprise. Since it was too early in the game, Liverpool got a 1-0 lead and first goal of the season in the 7th minute of the first match of the campaign.

On top of it, it was an own goal to everyone’s surprise. Divock Origi was dribbling in the left-wing and competing against Max Aarons. The Belgian International did out-beat the young right-back and made a diagonal shot towards the goal.

Surely the ball was not going inside the net, and Krul could have dealt with it, but Norwich City’s captain made a huge blunder as he made a huge deflection off the shot, which directly went inside the goal to give the first goal of the season.

The sight was rare and shocking at the same time, but the goal surely brought Norwich City’s morale down, and the Canaries went up to concede three more in the next forty minutes.

#2 Teemu Pukki

Teemu Pukki had a great performance even though his team failed to be at his level tonight. The Finnish International, who helped Norwich City to qualify to the Premier League with his 29 goals, made a mark in the top-flight competition now.

The 29-year-old  striker was a threat to the Reds since the first minute of the game, but support from his teammates was not enough to give Norwich City a fight against the champions of Europe.

Although, the Finnish International, in the end, scored a goal to give a consolation prize to his team. Credit also goes to Emiliano Buendia, who carved Liverpool’s defence open with his pass, and Pukki later received the ball with no mistake.

The Finnish International then sees himself one on one against Liverpool’s new signing Adrian, and the 29-year-old sent the ball past the ball behind him to make it 4-1.

#1 Liverpool were at usual best

https://twitter.com/Celtic1888News/status/1159927252848697345?s=20The Reds did not try anything new, even their main lineup was same except Sadio Mane’s absence until he came off the bench. This shows that the Kopites are satisfied with their project and want to continue with the same players.

The tactics used by Klopp were not even looking unusual, and it looked like Klopp had a normal routine at the office. However, until Liverpool win, it doesn’t matter.

With no new signing being a crucial part of the first team at Liverpool until January, we may see the same team with the same plans for this season at least.

Although, advanced planning was also not required at this stage and the Reds did what was required, as Liverpool need to look after a long series of games before they win the Premier League this year.
