Lucas Digne leaves Barcelona after two years at the Catalan club.

Everton have completed the signing of French footballer Lucas Digne from FC Barcelona. The Merseyside club completed the signing on a 20m fee, plus 1.5m variables.

Digne has struggled to make his place in the starting XI for Barcelona throughout his two years at the club. The French star played only 29 La Liga games in this two seasons at the Catalan club, making a total of 46 appearances.

The left-back scored two goals in his time at FC Barcelona.

His lack of playing time at Barca also put him out of contention for the French squad for the World Cup in Russia this summer, which the French team won.

Digne earlier confirmed his departure from FC Barcelona in an Instagram post. He extended heartfelt thanks to everyone at Barcelona, stating that playing for the club had been a childhood dream. He signed off by wishing the club the best for the next season and extending gratitude towards the fans.

The French midfielder arrived from FC Barcelona from Paris Saint Germain, after spending an year on loan at Italian club AS Roma.

Lucas Digne will be Everton’s second major signing of the season, after the club confirmed the signing of Richarlison for 40 million pounds last month. The French left-back had been on the radar of Everton’s new boss, Marco Silva since the beginning of the transfer window.

Barcelona, on the other hand, are plotting a move for their former star Thiago Alcantara, according to Marca.
