Luka Modric to Inter Milan: The Real Madrid midfielder and FIFA Best Player of the Year wants to leave Real Madrid, according to reports.

The defending champions of Europe have struggled ever since the beginning of the new season. Real Madrid is yet to seemingly recover from the departure of Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo. The injury crisis has further worsened the situation for Julen Lopetegui.

Real Madrid is currently on a four-match goalless run across all competitions this season. The club lost their first match in the Champions League in 30 games against CSKA Moscow last week. Later, in the La Liga, they conceded the only goal of the match in injury time against Deportivo Alaves.

The speculation over Julen Lopetegui’s future at the club has begun, and Florentino Perez has been urged to make some signings by the Real Madrid fans. The club oversaw the departure of Danilo, Morata, Ronaldo, and Kovacic in the last two years. In return, Real Madrid’s only significant signings were Courtois, Mariano, and Odriozola.

Now, Julen Lopetegui’s side suffer another setback as Italian media reports that Luka Modric is keen on a move to Inter Milan.

The Croatian midfielder was linked with a move to the Italian club throughout the transfer window. However, there was no bid on the table from the club.

Now, Football Italia, via Gazzetta Della Sport, reports that Luka Modric is rethinking on a move to Inter Milan. The report claims that Modric is not happy at Santiago Bernabeu, and a bad start to the season has further inclined the Croatian star towards a move-out.

Luka Modric recently won the FIFA Best Player of the Year, as well as the UEFA Player of the Year award. The midfielder was central to Real Madrid’s success in the Champions League in the 2017/18 season.

During the summer transfer window, Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti suggested that Luka Modric has expressed interest in a move to the Serie A club.

“About Modric, it is the sporting director who deals with that. I am not sure how this will finish. That he has shown interest to join us is obviously positive, we are trying to create the right conditions for him to join Inter Milan,” said the manager at that time.
