Man Utd memes: Manchester United faced a 3-0 defeat in the second leg as Solskjaer’s side remained goalless in the tie.
Manchester United were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarterfinals of the competition by Barcelona.
The Catalan giants registered a 4-0 aggregate victory in the tie, with an own goal from Luke Shaw in the first leg, and a brace from Messi and Coutinho’s stunner in the second.
Manchester United failed to step up in both the legs. Solskjaer’s side made a bright start in the opening minutes of the second half but failed to capitalize on the momentum, as Rashford and McTominay missed great chances.
United will now aim to secure a Champions League qualification spot through the Premier League, where they face an intense battle for the top-4. Barcelona, meanwhile, have almost secured a second-consecutive La Liga title.
How Twitter reacted..
United out-classed. Going to take some rebuild to get them back to challenging for the Champions League. Gap to the top teams in the Premier League isn’t small, either.

Sign Pogba, Di Maria, Neymar, Mbappe, blah blah blah. As long as you have the likes of Young etc. around you can’t be taken seriously.

United are roughly the 5th best team in England and Jose got them to 2nd by riding a David De Gea hot streak before undoing most of his good work by signing Sanchez and brutalising Pogba. They are still the 5th best team now. Cool? Cool. https://t.co/PyxYQAzRl5
