Man Utd Transfer News: Mats Hummels snubs Manchester United to join Borussia Dortmund despite a massive wages offer by the club.
Mats Hummels recently left Bayern Munich to join his previous club Borussia Dortmund after agreeing terms with them this summer. The German International was under the radar of Manchester United.
However, in recent advancements, according to a report by the Bild, Hummels reportedly snubbed Manchester United’s offer to join the German giants.
Even though, the Red Devils were ready to offer better wages than what he is about to earn at Die Borussen, but the 30-year-old defender preferred a move to Borussia Dortmund to remain in Germany.
Manchester United were seeking his services to bolster their defense, which has been struggling since a significantly long period of time. Moreover, after failing to land their desired prospects, the Red Devils tried their luck over here too.
Hummels was set to leave Bayern Munich after his underwhelming performances with the Bavarians this season. However, the Red Devils were ready to hire him as he could have upgraded the squad and would have brought much required leadership skills.
It is further reported that Hummels chose Borussia Dortmund over the Red Devils due to his desire to continue playing in the Champions league, as the English giants failed to qualify after an underwhelming sixth place finish in the Premier league.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are looking forward to make a glorious comeback next season, and have £100 million pool to make transfers this summer. Hence, saw Hummels as a viable option at back.
However, now Ole Solskjaer would have to look at their prospects, but at the brighter side, the Norwegian manager will get to seek younger targets for long-term solutions.
