Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to target these six players to taste success in the future.
Manchester United have confirmed that the club have agreed to welcome Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a permanent basis. Signing a three-year contract, the Norwegian will try to make some changes by reshuffling the side in the transfer window.
The English outfit have won 14 games out of their possible 19, as a result taking United to the Champions League Quarterfinals for the first time in eight years and challenging for a top-four place which looked out of the sight in December. Notwithstanding the injury crisis, the 46-year-old has been able to muster out results despite suffering back-to-back defeats.
The Red Devils will be hoping to boast their squad before the inception of the next season. Here are the six players who Solskjaer must try to pursue in the summer transfer window.
Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli):
Kalidou Koulibaly has been the primary name on Manchester United’s supporters. Not only on the fans lips, but various reports quoted that he heads the shortlist for Ed Woodward in the summer transfer window.
Ever since Rafa Benitez bought Kalidou Koulibaly at Naples, his prominent rise with the Italian outfit has been a delight to witness. Barcelona’s January bid of 110 million was turned down by the club, but an additional ten million must be ample.
Tanguy Ndombele (Lyon):
Lyon has been a shopping cart for some of the top European sides over the last few years. In spite of trading out the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Samuel Umtiti over the last three years, Bruno Genesio’s side has shown much maturity by qualifying for the Champions League. The French outfit beat Manchester City in the group stages and a particular midfielder named Tanguy Ndombele impressed the most.
The 22-year-old has been remarkable this term and Lyon have an uphill battle to convince him to stay. Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Manchester City are curious about his availability and it will take an offer worth 100 million to lure him away from Groupama Stadium.
Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund):
Previously with Manchester City, Jadon Sancho could be seen in the red part of Manchester soon. The 19-year-old moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2017, has been hitting the headlines then. He is illustrious in setting up the strikers inside the penalty box with breakneck pace and nimble feet. The English International has made 26 goal appearances from 35 appearances this campaign and has grasped the attention of scouts.
Nicolo Barella (Cagliari):
Chelsea were flirting with Nicolo Barella in the last two transfer windows, but the move never came to a conclusion. In the wish of pipping their top-four rivals, Manchester United bid a ‘take it or leave it’ offer worth 30 million pounds in the winter transfer window. Cagliari were psyched for his departure during the midway of this season, but both the clubs were not prepared to pay up. However, an offer around 40 million mark will be enough to seal his signature in the forthcoming transfer window.
Milan Skriniar (Inter Milan):
Milan Skriniar is the second defender on the shortlist for the Red Devils. The Slovak International is the linchpin in Inter Milan’s defense and signed a new contract until 2023 with Italian heavyweights. The 24-year-old is also gaining adulation from the blue side of Manchester, but he could be the cardinal defender if he decides to move to Old Trafford. An offer from the Red Devils will entice the defender, but Solskjaer will be aware of his side’s participation in the Champions League.
Douglas Costa (Juventus):
Douglas Costa is the fourth player from the Serie A to feature in this list. Undeterred by staying as the second choice, the Old Lady will not equivocate when a huge offer arrives from elsewhere. Suffering a hamstring injury in February, the Brazilian has fallen behind the pecking order of Federico Bernadeschi. The Italian has stepped up his game to re-establish himself in the starting eleven. Costa will prove to be a good alternative to Jadon Sancho having been a target for the club already.
