Man Utd Transfer News: Solskjaer eyes £35 million Ligue 1 hotstreak in a summer transfer window move

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly bid for Lyon’s Moussa Dembele.

Manchester United have bid for Lyon’s striker Moussa Dembele. The French International joined the French outfit from Celtic last summer, but he has enjoyed significant success in the French top division by bagging 20+ goals.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is viewing him as a part of the rebuilding plan which will take part at Old Trafford. He still has four years left in his Lyon contract, but any bid around £40 million will enough to convince Jean Michel Aulas, who likes to hardball with the suitors every now and then.

The French outfit could recoup double the amount they paid for Moussa Dembele in the summer should Manchester United step up their interest. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is liking the striker and has paid up to £35 million in the summer transfer window, according to Goal. This might force the Norwegian to go with Dembele and Martial up front, changing his tactics completely.

At the end of the season, Moussa Dembele has racked up 23 goals in 33 appearances for the club. He is a lethal man in front of the goal, but he requires services which United have lacked in recent months. Lyon are hesitant to let him leave, but a good offer on the table might convince them to cash in on him.

With certainly time on his side, a move for the French striker makes perfect sense. But, the club must sign a right winger before going in search for a striker. Dembele is not versatile and offers goals only through the middle.

Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia have already confirmed their departures from their clubs, whilst the likes of Marcos Rojo, Alexis Sanchez, and Matteo Darmian could be phased out of the club. David De Gea and Paul Pogba have not signed their respective contracts, which means that a move could be on the cards for them.

Their bid to sign Ajax custodian Andre Onana has already been turned down by the club. The deal was believed to be in the region of £35 million.

Manchester United are expected to spend big in the summer transfer window. The club are currently in a transition period and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping to work things back on track.
