Look away Barcelona fans, look away.

If you thought things were bad before, you may just be in store for the biggest shock of them all. Barcelona have had the most disastrous summer in recent memory, as the club have been in shambles, both on and off the field.

It all began with Neymar’s move to PSG. The world record move shocked the entire footballing community, as the rich kids from Paris came in and stole Barcelona’s ‘future’ away from Catalonia.

Then came the prospect of replacing one of the best players in the world. Truth be told, there is no one like Neymar in the market right now.

So Bareclona were tasked with the unenviable prospect of approaching some of the most talented players in world, with their respective clubs already knowing that Barca have a kitty worth 222 million.

With just over ten days to go in the transfer window, Barcelona are yet to bring in a replacement for the Brazilian.

Things looks just as bad on the field, as Barcelona succumbed to two consecutive Classico losses against Real Madrid. Then they learnt that Luis Suarez would be out for a month following a knee injury.

And now reports are stating that Lionel Messi is seriously considering his future at FC Barcelona.

Although Messi has agreed a new contract with the club, he is yet to officially sign the paper. We know that Pep Guardiola was very close to bringing Messi to Manchester City last year, and it looks like he will attempt to do so again.

City officials are ready to trigger Messi’s release clause of 275 million pounds, as they will once again try and bring Messi to Manchester.

In all honesty, Messi should consider the prospect of leaving the club. Arguably the greatest player to have ever played the game, Messi has achieved legendary things at the Catalan club, and does not deserve to suffer as the club tries to sort it self out.

Barcelona have a lot of work to do at the moment. They are now stuck with an old squad that requires whole sale changes. At 30, Messi may not feel that he has the time to go through a transitional phase for the club. He is not getting any younger either.

Maybe it is time to move on.
