Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has entered the race to sign the Turkish International Cengiz Under.

The Norwegian International and Manchester United’s interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to improve his frontline by landing the Turkish International Cengiz Under who is currently plying his trade with AS Roma in the Serie A.

There is no chance that the Italian Giants would be willing to sell their star this month, given their inconsistency right from minute one this term. Despite sitting sixth in the table, Under has been faring well for the Italian outfit by scoring six goals and has nine assists to his name this term.

There have been many talks about those forwards of the Red Devils in recent weeks, but they really don’t have a quality right winger who is as good as Anthony Martial or Alexis Sanchez. Juan Mata has not been able to find his feet on a consistent basis after he fell out of favour under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.

Cengiz Under could prove to be the ideal solution for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who is eyeing a long term deal with the club. Even though he won’t be available in this month, his representatives are planning for a move in the summer window, according to ESPN.

The report also claims that Roma are willing to negotiate with the offers only 50 million upwards as Cengiz’s old club Istanbul Basaksehir will receive 25% of the transfer amount which was inserted in the Turkish International’s contract.

The 21-year-old is contracted up to 2022 with the Italian outfit and has rejected a new extension approach from the club as he continues to assess the options with a host of clubs showing interest on the forward.

It is understood that Manchester United have joined the race to compete with Arsenal, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur. Unai Emery’s 50 million Euros bid during the start of January transfer window was not enough to strike the deal with Roma.

While Corriere Dello Sport believes that Tottenham’s 35 million deal was another offer turned down, as the Italian outfit does not want to lose him midway through the season.

Since he earns just 17,000 a week, Roma’s director Monchi said that they would want to make improvements on his contract.

When speaking to Sky Italia, Monchi said “We haven’t decided anything for Cengiz Under yet. He is very young, he is improving. But this is not the right moment to discuss a new contract and he must continue the growth process. Let’s leave him in peace to mature at his own pace. What needs to come will come in good time.”
