Manchester United News: Juan Mata to sign new contract extension

Manchester United News: Juan Mata to sign new contract extension with Red Devils to increase his stay at the Old Trafford.

Juan Mata was speculated to leave the club as a free agent after his previous contract with Manchester United got over after the end of the last season.

However, according to a report by the Daily Mirror, the Spaniard is set to sign a new contract with the Red Devils to extend his stay in the Premier league.

It was expected from the 31-year-old midfielder to follow the path of his compatriot Ander Herrera, who lived out his contract and later joined PSG for free.

Considering, there was a delay in renewal and Mata’s contract got over after the end of the season, it was reported that he might also join PSG this summer.

Additionally, he was also reported to make a move back to Spain, as various clubs in La Liga were interested to hire his services ahead of the next season.

On the other side there were interests from several other sides from Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Newcastle.

However, Mata is set to end all speculations, as he is about to sign a new extension with his current club. The 31-year-old will reportedly keep earning his current £140,000 a week wages.

This news will surely give a relief to Manchester United, as they are already losing key players, especially in midfield. However, the Spanish International has recently struggled to keep his spot in the starting lineup of Ole Solskjaer’s side.
