Manchester United players returning: Matic, Rojo and Diogo Dalot to return
3 Manchester United players returning: Nemanja Matic and Antonio Valencia return to training, while Rojo and Diogo Dalot will soon join the club.
All eyes will be on Manchester United this weekend when they take on Tottenham Hotspur. The Red Devils are heavily under criticism following their 3-2 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend. A lack of squad depth and unfit first team players have been the reason for Man United’s discontent. However, they will be left in high spirits following the returns to training of Nemanja Matic and Antonio Valencia.
The Serbian and Ecuadorian players left Manchester United’s dugout in North America this summer early due to injury issues. The right back’s speed and strength have been two major factors that the Red Devils have missed. In addition to him, Marcos Rojo and Diogo Dalot could be included in the United squad during the coming weeks as well.
Meanwhile, Nemanja Matic’s return to action will be one big sigh of relief for Jose Mourinho. The third season syndrome seems to have stricken the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss again with poor results and a fractious relationship with chairman Ed Woodward signaling him towards the exit door. Matic’s presence on the pitch is something that United immensely missed in their last two matches, visibly so against Brighton.
The Serbian underwent abdominal surgery earlier this month in the United States before flying back to England for his rehab process. Having featured in 36 matches last season for Manchester United, the former Chelsea midfielder made 70 tackles and 64 interceptions, which are among the highest in the league.
On the other hand, there remains to be no news on Alexis Sanchez who is seemingly unavailable due to a supposed knock. He did miss the visit to Brighton last Sunday, but an update is still pending regarding his fitness for the Spurs game. Matic and Valencia’s returns could have given confidence not just to Mourinho but also those who are in contention for a starting spot on Monday.
