TheSportsRush brings Manchester United team news vs Newcastle as Mourinho’s side aim to bring their campaign back on track.

The air around the Old Trafford is fairly negative and there is a good reason for it. Manchester United have not won a game at their stadium since the Premier League opener in August, and are currently 10th in the league.

Jose Mourinho’s side dropped points at Valencia in the Champions League this week. United also lost to West Ham in the Premier League last weekend, after crashing out of their first knock-out match in the Carabao Cup to lower-league side Derby County.

The club was also marred by controversy last week when midfielder Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho were caught arguing during a training session.

Pogba has, on occasions, criticized Jose Mourinho’s tactics throughout the season. After the match against Valencia, he stated that he has been banned from giving interviews.

The Manchester United boss talked to media before the match against Newcastle. Interestingly, the press conference only lasted three minutes and 32 seconds, and Mourinho only took five questions, before leaving the room.

He talked about the importance of the match in the weekend and provided team news.

Manchester United team news vs Newcastle

Jose Mourinho stated that three players will be unavailable for selection against Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday.

The boss told MUTV that there were no new injuries in the squad, and that Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera and Jesse Lingard remain on the sidelines. However, Ashley Young has recovered from a ‘minor injury’ and is expected to be in the team for Newcastle.

Mourinho stressed that it is important to win against Rafael Benitez’s side this weekend.

“Only one defeat at home all season, only one defeat in the last seven matches but not victories at home in the past three matches, three draws, not the feeling of the defeat but not the happiness of the victory so is important for us to try and win this match on Saturday,” said the manager.

He also admitted that things are not working at Manchester United at the moment, but refused to give reasons.

What next?

Manchester United await a tough set of fixtures ahead of Newcastle United. As the players return from the international break, Manchester United face Chelsea and Juventus on the trot. They return to Premier League with games against Everton and Bournemouth, before traveling to Turin.

It is important for United, hence, to get a result against Newcastle in an attempt to bring their season back on track.
