Manchester United have found themselves a new Robin Van Persie.

There is no use in having just success with the first team when you don’t have a proper youth team. When injuries and suspensions take a toil at one point of time, the manager might have to look at the academy kids to fill the void left by them.

When there is no development among the youth team but just the first team, the next manager will have to reshuffle things fully. Louis Van Gaal is the master of that art, providing young players and assisting them for a breakthrough into the first team.

Manchester United’s academy has been one of the greatest in England for a long time. Sir Alex Ferguson’s core containing Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville, Gary Neville, and David Beckham were crucial to his success during their resurgence in the early 90’s.

When the Red Devils faced a crisis with injuries to Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial, former Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal turned to the academy ranks and told the teenager Marcus Rashford to have a go against an experienced defence which consisted of Nacho Monreal, Laurent Koscielny, Gabriel, and Hector Bellerin. He did the entire damage by scoring twice past Petr Cech to win the game 3-2.

The English International is one of the integral players under the interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The likes of Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes are tipped to be the next set of academy graduates to break into the starting eleven soon or rather than later.

However, it looks like the Red Devils have found another youngster named Mason Greenwood from the academy ranks who could potentially be the future of Manchester United should he live up to his expectations.

The young striker has been phenomenal for the Under18s, scoring 22 goals and assisting another 5 from just 18 games. He did feature in the Under23s, but he did not get proper game time there.

Having turned the heads of the manager, he was also an unused substitute in the Champions League clash at Valencia under Jose Mourinho.

With the physicality, pace, an eye in front of goal, and left-footed, he has been deemed as the ‘Next Robin Van Persie’ by the Old Trafford faithful already.

Robin Van Persie was one of the masterstrokes by Sir Alex Ferguson to land their 20th Premier League title. The striker did spend only three years at Old Trafford, but he has been loved for his contributions towards the club.

Fans think they have found their own Robin Van Persie in their ranks..
