Marcus Rashford hilariously forgets what competition he just played in after helping United beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup last night.
Manchester United overcame Chelsea for the second time this season. They beat them 4-1 in the opening day of the Premier League. The win in their Carabao Cup clash night however, was much more closely fought.

Manchester United prevailed after a masterclass from Marcus Rashford who scored the winner in the 73rd minute. The marvellous free kick from over 35 yards turned the tide in The Red Devils favour and helped them progress in the League cup.

The young forward, who turns 22 today, was naturally delighted with his performance. After all, his brace helped United put an end to Chelsea’s unbeaten run. However, in the post-match interview with Sky Sports, it seemed that the England international was not even aware of the competition he just participated in.

The interviewer asked the Man of the match, with his birthday coming, if this was the best possible way to celebrate tonight?
To which Marcus Rashford replied:
“Erm, yeah, getting the three points is the way you want to start a day like tomorrow.”

Hilarious how Manchester United’s hero for the night was oblivious to the contest he had just put the shift in. However, the fans will give him a pass seeing how well he has been playing in the last couple of games. If Rashford continues to play in the same vein, he will vindicate his manager’s decision to prioritise him over the more established Romelu Lukaku.
“Marcus has that strike in him. I’ve seen him in training so many times. ‘When you give young lads the experience, like Brandon Williams got tonight – and the kid was outstanding – it’s only going to help them” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said of his forward after the match.
Speaking on the performance of his team, he said:
“We’ve got a good team spirit and camaraderie. It shows the character of the team. We get the games where we want them. We’ve been leading 1-0 in many games and not kicked on.
“Today we were excellent, with fast flowing flowing. That’s Manchester United. We’re trying to get back to that.
