Matthijs De Ligt Transfer News: Juventus lead the race to sign the Star Defender. They are likely to pip Man Utd, Liverpool, Barcelona and PSG for his services.
Matthijs De Ligt took his Ajax side to the Dutch league and Cup titles. He also took them to the brink of a Champions League final appearance. Losing out at the last minute to a magical hat-trick by Lucas Moura. In national colors, the young Dutchman played an important role in taking his national team to the Nations League Final.
Consistent performances, not just in this season but in the one’s before as well, have made him a hot commodity that every major club around the world wants to employ. Matthijs De Ligt has set the transfer news and rumors rolling with interests from Man Utd, Liverpool, Barcelona, PSG, Juventus and Bayern Munich.
Mino Raiola
Up until a few days ago, it seemed that the star defender would ply his trade in the La Liga along with his other Ajax teammate, Frenkie De Jong. However, reports suggest that the Ajax Captain has turned down Barcelona at the suggestion of his manager, Mino Raiola.
His manager demanded that the Catalan club offer him a higher salary than De Jong and despite Barcelona president’s attempts at convincing the youngster, De Ligt has remained persistent and is fully behind his manager.
It was reported that De Ligt was being pursued by PSG, Juventus and Bayern with PSG the most likely destination. However, Sky Sport and Italian Newspaper De Telegraaf are reporting that Juventus now lead the race to get the defender’s signatures.

They have reported that Juventus are willing to pay €70 million to sign De Ligt and have offered the player a five-year contract worth €15-20 million per season which would render him Serie A’s second highest earner, only behind Cristiano Ronaldo who earns €30 million a year.
Another twist in the tale?
Mino Raiola, maintains a close relationship Juventus. Knowing De Ligt’s vehement support towards his manager; it is very possible that De Ligt could trade his red and whites for Juve’s Black and Whites. It would however be foolish to count Paris Saint Germain out. The only thing stopping the Parisian club from the capture would be their compliance with financial fair play.
However, with reports of PSG looking to sell Neymar, anything is possible. Until an official word is released, the drama over the Matthijs De Ligt’s transfer saga continues to remain.
