“Me, Michael Jordan, and David Robinson”: Charles Barkley Would Team Up With ‘His Airness’ and ‘The Admiral’ if Superteams Were a Thing in the 90s
The NBA came into existence more than 60 years ago. Within that span of time, fans have been incredibly fortunate to witness some of the most prodigious talents to have stepped foot onto the hardwood floors of the NBA.
Back in the day, however, the foremost players in the league represented each franchise individually. As they were relied upon to help their team achieve their aspirations of collecting gold.
The concept of a couple of stars aligning themselves to accomplish their objective wasn’t prominent until the arrival of Kevin Garnett in Boston.
In light of this, in the blink of an eye, there were ‘Superteams’ prevalent throughout the league. In retrospect this makes us wonder, provided that this recipe for success was common then, how would some of the franchises have fared?
Former NBA MVP Charles Barkley has his say.
Charles Barkley will team up with Michael Jordan and David Robinson if Superteams were a thing back then
The 1980s and 1990s era of basketball has paid homage to a myriad of megastars. A plethora of talent, who in their own right have contributed to transfigurating the league, whilst being lauded as their franchise’s talisman.
In the face of such extreme competition, Michael Jordan reigned supreme. This brings us to the long-awaited question. What if other stars teamed up during the time? Charles Barkley has indulged in the topic and had his say.
In an interview on the BTM podcast, earlier this year stated his choices.
Barkley said-
“Listen, me and Michael were really close, he would be fun to play with obviously, and I probably if I gotta find me a big guy, like probably David Robinson. Who’s a good player, who’s a good friend.”
Now that would have made a glorious trio that would’ve picked up five championships within a six-year span at the very least.
The prospect of facing the greatest shooting guard, an eminent power forward, and an otherworldly center are downright frightening.
The greatest superteams in the history of the NBA!
When the subject of the greatest superteams to grace the league the first franchise that comes to your mind would be the Miami Heat.
For whatsoever reason, the Boston Celtics have been excluded from the list, but little do they know that they were the first organization to construct one.
The best superteams in the league’s history would constitute the Chicago Bulls, the Boston Celtics, the Miami Heat, the Golden State Warriors, and the Brooklyn Nets.
The aforementioned names have constructed some of the best superteams that the NBA has ever seen, regardless of whether they accomplished their desired objective.
