Arsenal midfield star Mesut Ozil celebrates his 30th birthday today. Mesut Ozil has been one of the key performers for Arsenal, and until his retirement from international football, Germany.

Regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders, Mesut Ozil holds the record of most assists in a single season in the Bundesliga, La Liga and Premier League. He also holds this record in the World Cup and the Euro.

Ozil started his career at German club Schalke 04 in 2006, before making a move to Werder Bremen in 2008. After a terrific World Cup with Germany, he came in the radar of major European clubs like Real Madrid, Arsenal and Barcelona. The Los Blancos, however, successfully signed the midfielder, and Ozil spent three seasons at Santiago Bernabeu.

As Mesut Ozil celebrates his 30th birthday yesterday, the social media is full of wishes for the Arsenal midfielder. One of them is from Ozil’s former Arsenal teammate Santi Cazorla.

The Spanish midfielder was a key figure at Arsenal before his unfortunate injury in 2016, which kept him at sidelines for the rest of his Arsenal career, before he left the club to join Villareal earlier this season.

Cazorla took to Instagram to wish his former teammate on his birthday. “Happy birthday to my friend and top player @m10_official , I hope you have a great day, all the best. a hug,” wrote Cazorla.

Shkodran Mustafi, the Arsenal centre-back, also came up with a witty wish for the Arsenal superstar. The German international posted a video, which showed him nutmegging Ozil. Mustafi wrote, “Happy birthday @MesutOzil1088 abi! For your 30th Birthday i have a special present for you.”
