Mourinho-Martial relationship: Anthony Martial opens up on his relationship with Jose Mourinho after the match against Chelsea.

Manchester United held Chelsea to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge, with Anthony Martial leading a stunning comeback. The Frenchman scored both the goals for United in the second half.

United’s season has been full of struggles so far, but the last two matches have been fairly positive for Mourinho and the players. The club, however, is 9th in the Premier League with 14 points – 9 points behind league leaders and city rivals Manchester City.

Before the football began, there were a lot of speculations over the strained relationship with Jose Mourinho and Anthony Martial. The manager was visibly disgruntled when Martial left the pre-season tour midway to attend the birth of his child.

The Frenchman, however, has no spoken on the relationship with his manager.

Mourinho-Martial relationship:

Anthony Martial insisted that there has been no strain in his relationship with the United manager.

“Come on, things were not tense between us to begin with,” said Martial.

The French forward stated that he shares an excellent player-coach relationship with Mourinho.

“We have a player-coach relationship and I hope that we will continue like that and bring Manchester United as much as possible,” said the French international.

Martial said that he was disappointed with the result, but now looks forward to the big game against Juventus in the Champions League. “For sure. It has done me the world of good, of course,” said Martial.

“However, ultimately, I am disappointed. We deserved to win but we shipped the goal in the last minute and it cost us.

“We want to continue with another good game against Juventus on Tuesday.”

During the transfer window, Martial’s agent Phillipp Lamboley stated that his client was unhappy at Old Trafford. In an interview to RMC Sport, he said, “We have not reached an agreement for several months. [Martial is] disappointed because he has shown his love for the club and the supporters for three seasons.”

What next?

With two good performances against Newcastle and Chelsea, Martial is likely to start against Juventus. As the Italian champions arrive at Old Trafford, United’s former footballer Cristiano Ronaldo will also return to Old Trafford after 5 years.

His last club game at the stadium came in 2013, when he played against the Manchester United in Champions League’s round-of-16 with Real Madrid.
