Mourinho on January transfer window

Mourinho on January transfer window: The Manchester United manager has spoken about the possibilities of January signing.

Manchester United are currently 6th in the Premier League. The side has had a difficult campaign in the league so far, and the season was further marred with controversies surrounding the manager and the players.

However, after a series of winless games since the end of the international break last month, Manchester United finally won 4-1 against Fulham. The side would aim to continue on their form as they take on the high-flying Liverpool later tonight.

The beginning of the season for Manchester United had been rather dire, as the club only signed three players, which included a back-up goalkeeper. Fred has hardly featured in the season so far, while Diogo Dalot has only just stepped up for the side, producing an impressive performance against Fulham last weekend.

Jose Mourinho has now spoken about the prospect of January signings at the club.

Mourinho on January transfer window:

The Manchester United manager has stated that he would prefer signings in January, but insisted that the final authority lies with the board.

“I don’t know if we are going to have new players,” Jose Mourinho said.

“I would like to [have signings], but I don’t know if it is possible or not. It depends on the club. Honestly, I’m focused on my job of playing Liverpool and next week playing Cardiff, and I’m more focused on that.”

Earlier, in one of his press conferences, Jose Mourinho was fairly negative about the possibilities of a transfer. “Honestly, I don’t think we are going to sign. If we do, I would say one player. I don’t see us going more than that,” Mourinho said.

Manchester United have been linked with a number of players, particularly in defence for the January transfer window.

During the summer window, Toby Alderweireld was strongly speculated to be joining Manchester United, and the rumours over the duo coming together have significantly risen as the winter window approaches.

Kalidou Koulibaly and Milan Skriniar are the other players who have been linked with a move to United, but it is unlikely that they will sign in January if the deal indeed takes place.

What next?

Manchester United will take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool later tonight, as they aim to end the side’s unbeaten run in the league.

Liverpool are the only undefeated side in the English top flight after Manchester City conceded a defeat to Chelsea last weekend.
