MS Dhoni injury

MS Dhoni injury: Chennai Super Kings captain was rested during CSK’s ongoing match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

During the 33rd match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings at Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not included into the Playing XI.

Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony after beating Kolkata Knight Riders by 5 wickets, Dhoni had opened up on his back spasm. The 37-year old cricketer had unveiled that there is nothing serious about the injury. With him being rested tonight, it seems more of a precautionary measure.

Vice-captain and senior batsman Suresh Raina is leading the side in the absence of Dhoni.

In the absence of a domestic backup wicket-keeper batsman, Super Kings have included England wicket-keeper batsman Sam Billings into their playing XI. In a bid to balance their four overseas players, leg-spinner Karn Sharma has been included into the squad in place of Mitchell Santner.

It is the first time in IPL 2019 that Billings has been included into Super Kings’ Playing XI. In the 10 matches that Billings played for CSK last season, he scored 108 runs at an average of 13.50 and a strike rate of 138.46 including a half-century.

In 21 T20Is for England, Billings has scored 314 runs at an average of 17.44 and a strike rate of 144.08.
