MS Dhoni posts on Instagram after being conferred with the Padma Bhushan

MS Dhoni received the Padma Bhushan award last night along with billiards champion Pankaj Advani at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Padma Bhushan award is the third highest civilian award in India. The cricketer received the award from President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.

Incidentally, Dhoni received the award exactly seven years later since the world cup win. On 2nd April 2011, India ended a 28 years World Cup drought by winning their second title at Wankhede Stadium against Sri Lanka.

Dhoni is the second cricketer after Kapil Dev to receive the the prestigious award and is the first cricketer to receive it while still playing the game.

Dhoni, who came to the ceremony clad in his Lieutenant Colonel uniform, marched like an army personnel when his name was called upon to receive the award.

Recently, MS Dhoni shared the images of the ceremony on his Instagram account. MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi and daughter Ziva is also in the pictures. MS Dhoni and his wife also clicked a photo with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In the post, he wrote,” An honour to get the Padma Bhushan and receiving it in Uniform increases the excitement ten folds. Thanks to all the Men and Women in Uniform and their families for the Sacrifices they make so that all of us could enjoy our Constitutional Rights. Jai Hind”.

MS Dhoni is currently gearing up for the 11th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) where he will be seen leading the returning team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The team has already started their preparations for the upcoming season as seen in a video posted by CSK’s official social handle.

Dhoni will return back to Chennai today wherein he will resume his preparations for the upcoming edition of the IPL.

CSK play their opening game on the 7th of April against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians and would be hoping to cap off their return to the IPL with a win.
