Speaking to news agency IANS on Friday, former Union minister and BJP leader Sanjay Paswan has said that MS Dhoni might make his entry into the political arena with the ruling party BJP.

“There has been a discussion on this issue for long”- Paswan

Sanjay Paswan was Minister of state of Human Resource Development in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government, and was elected to 13th Lok Sabha from Nawada constituency of Bihar.

Paswan claims that the discussions pertaining to Dhoni’s decision to join the BJP has been going on for quite some time, but the final verdict will only be taken after his retirement from International Cricket.

“On this issue (Dhoni joining BJP), there has been a discussion for long, although this decision will be taken only after his retirement”, said Paswan.

“Dhoni is my friend; have known him for long”- Paswan

Paswan also claims that he has been a good friend of Dhoni for quite long, and is confident on his contesting the upcoming Assembly polls in Jharkhand.

“Dhoni is my friend, he is a player of world fame and there have been discussions on bringing him into the party fold,” he said.

It is worth mentioning that Dhoni hails from Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand where the assembly polls are set to take place later this year.  Reports even say that the wicketkeeper-batsman can contest the polls and could be the chief ministerial candidate of the BJP.
