Dhoni opens up after CSK clinch IPL 2018

MS Dhoni had a fruitful IPL season this time round, returning to CSK after a gap of two years and getting the opportunity to lead a team once again.

Dhoni’s T20 form coming into India’s marquee event did not inspire much confidence and a lot of Dhoni critics felt that he should give up his position in T20s and let someone of Rishab Pant’s caliber to take over.

However, Dhoni was just soaking all the criticism in during the off-season and came out all guns blazing during the IPL 2018 season.

Dhoni played two knocks of real substance in the 2018 edition, wherein one ended in a lost cause whereas in the other he took CSK to the victory line from the jaws of defeat.

In the IPL 2018, MS Dhoni scored 455 runs in 16 games, his highest for one single edition of the IPL

Apart from his batting, Dhoni’s captaincy was top notch this year, as he handled an ‘over-aged’ team to perfection and led CSK to victory despite not having a potent death bowling attack.

After the win, as is his tradition, MS Dhoni visited the Durga Temple at Deori, something that he has been doing for a long time, ever since his early cricket days.

Now, Dhoni’s return to form is a huge boost for the Indian team as India have been struggling with their middle order for sometime now. An in-form Dhoni, coming in at number 5 and batting freely could be a huge boost to India’s chances of winning that 2019 World Cup.

Dhoni will now next be in action during India’s tour of Ireland, where Ireland will play host to Indian for 2 T20I’s. Following that series, the Indian team will fly to England for the limited overs series, comprising of 3 ODI’s and 3 T20’s.
