MS Dhoni vs DC

MS Dhoni vs DC: The Sportsrush present before you Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni’s overall performance vs Delhi Capitals.

Having led Chennai Super Kings to yet another IPL qualifying stage, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has continued his unbeaten spree of leading CSK into the playoffs. Been doing the same since the inception of the tournament in 2008, it speaks highly about the 37-year old cricketer’s charisma.

After losing Qualifier 1 against Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets earlier this week, Dhoni had opened up on the prospect of reaching the final “round the wicket“. Slated to face Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 2 at Visakhapatnam tomorrow, Dhoni will be banking on the fact that CSK have defeated DC twice in the league phase.

In 13 IPL 2019 matches, Dhoni has scored 405 runs at an average of 135 and a strike rate of 138.69 including three half-centuries. The 37-year old cricketer is Chennai’s highest run-scorer in the tournament.

Out of the two matches which Super Kings played without Dhoni this season, they ended up losing both of them. Therefore, there is no hiding to the fact that Dhoni has been a vital cog in the wheel for the defending champions this year.

In the 23 matches which Dhoni has played against Delhi Capitals, he has scored 563 runs at an average of 37.53 and a strike rate of 139.01 including three half-centuries. Till date, Dhoni has missed only a solitary match (away game in IPL 2011) against Delhi.

In the lone IPL playoff match which Super Kings have played against DC, Dhoni scored 23 (10) with the help of a four and a couple of sixes as CSK posted a mammoth 222/5 in 20 overs in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2012 at Chennai.

Dhoni’s highest score against Capitals had come way back in 2011 when he scored 63* (31) with the help of five fours and four sixes in the 56th match of IPL 2011 at Chennai. Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 11th over, Dhoni had stitched a 96-run partnership  with Subramaniam Badrinath (55) to power CSK to 176/4 in 20 overs.

During the 64th match of IPL 2013 between Chenniai and Delhi, Dhoni came in to bat at No. 4 in the 10th over to score 58* (35) with the help of two fours and four sixes to power Chennai to 168/4. Dhoni’s third half-century came against DC last season when he scored 51* (22) with the help of two fours and five sixes as his team posted a dominating 211/4 at Pune.

With the Super Kings skipper possessing a praiseworthy record against Delhi, don’t be surprised if he guides his team to another IPL final.
