As The Game Awards continue to unfold, a few category winners have been decided. After Marvel Snap shone in the Best Mobile Game segment, it was Multiversus’ time in the spotlight. Winning the Best Fighting Game award, Multiversus was up against stiff competition like SIFU and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Contrary to other competitors in its segment, Multiversus is a free-to-play title going up against those with much larger budgets. Here’s how they did it.

The fighting game genre was filled with diverse titles that tackled every sub-genre of the space. Competing against 2D fighters and roguelites, Multiversus’ platform fighting seemed to strike a chord with fans. The crossover fighter saw many characters added in since launch with characters like Batman and Shaggy fighting side-by-side. Here’s the official description of the game:
