Multiversus wins Best Fighting Game at The Game Awards 2022

As The Game Awards continue to unfold, a few category winners have been decided. After Marvel Snap shone in the Best Mobile Game segment, it was Multiversus’ time in the spotlight. Winning the Best Fighting Game award, Multiversus was up against stiff competition like SIFU and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Contrary to other competitors in its segment, Multiversus is a free-to-play title going up against those with much larger budgets. Here’s how they did it.

MultiVersus trumps SIFU and King of Fighters to win at The Game Awards 2022

Nominees for Best Fighting Game of 2022:

  • MultiVersus

The fighting game genre was filled with diverse titles that tackled every sub-genre of the space. Competing against 2D fighters and roguelites, Multiversus’ platform fighting seemed to strike a chord with fans. The crossover fighter saw many characters added in since launch with characters like Batman and Shaggy fighting side-by-side. Here’s the official description of the game:

“In MultiVersus, the Multiverse is at your fingertips as you battle it out in intense 2v2 matches. Up against Batman & Shaggy? Try using Finn the Human & Tom and Jerry! This platform fighter lets you play out your fantasy matchups in a fun co-op or head-to-head fight for supremacy. Choose from an ever-expanding roster of iconic characters such as Harley Quinn, Tom and Jerry, Rick and Morty, Finn the Human, Black Adam, Gizmo, and an extraordinary creature named Reindog. Every fighter boasts unique abilities that pair dynamically with other characters.”

MultiVersus supports crossplay and can be played on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows.
