Three-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the tournament’s history.

Mumbai has been home to some of the greatest players in the game, with Sanath Jayasuria, Ricky Ponting, Lasith Malinga, Harbhajan Singh and of course Sachin Tendulkar to name a few.

Over the years, Mumbai’s success has been built on a strong core group of players in their side, with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Lasith Malinga, Hardik Pandya, Harbhajan Singh and Kerion Pollard being an integral part of the Mumbai franchise.

Ahead of the IPL auction, Mumbai retained Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, as they look to build their team around these three players.

After a decade of outstanding service, Harbhajan Singh will unlikely be a part of the Mumbai franchise, which is why MI will definitely be in the market for a wicket taking spinner.

According to reports, Mumbai have their eyes set on Rashid Khan, as the Afghan star heads their shortlist of players in the IPL auction.

The young leggie’s rise in stature over the last year has been nothing short of sensational, as Rashid is now right up there among the best spinners in the world.

Spinners have become an integral part of the every franchise, as the likes of Sunil Narine, Yuzi Chahal, Ravi Ashwin and Harbhajan himself have played a starring role in their respective team’s success.

Rashid played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad last year, as he was picked up for Rs 4 crores. Halfway through the tournament, Rashid was the leading wicket taker in the IPL, as the Afghan proved to be a terrific signing.

Rashid has been in red hot form in the ongoing Big Bash League in Australia, as he has already picked up 12 wickets at an economy of just 5.

He also had a wonderful time in the Caribbean Premier league, as Rashid picked up 14 wickets in 12 matches, including a hat-trick.

Sunrisers do have three RTMs in their kitty, and will surely be looking to use one on Rashid Khan. Either way, the leggie will be one to watch out for in the IPL auction!
