Is Kyle Larson Having a Better Season Than His 2021 Cup-Winning Year? Yes, but That Doesn’t Matter in Current NASCAR Climate

Ever since Kyle Larson maximized his potential by moving to Hendrick Motorsports, which has given him a racecar in which he can achieve all he is capable of achieving, his perception has gone from one of the most talented drivers in NASCAR to one of the all-time greats in the making. And now, he is being compared to some of the greatest athletes of all time.

Take, for example, what Kenny Wallace recently said about the #5 driver and the absolute icon he compared Larson to. The icon in question is the baseball legend Babe Ruth, and the former NASCAR driver didn’t shy away from that comparison one bit during his podcast, the Kenny Wallace Show.

Kenny Wallace compares Kyle Larson to Babe Ruth

Speaking after the recent Cup race at Homestead, Wallace opened up on the recent show of supremacy from Larson against his competition in NASCAR. “I think the big story is obviously Kyle Larson, complete domination. He called his shot. He was like Babe Ruth,” Wallace said.

“For all you kids, Babe Ruth, one of the greatest baseball players of all time. Babe would get up and he’d go, ‘This is going over the wall.’ And by God, it did. Couldn’t make fun of Babe Ruth because he hit them homeruns.”

“Kyle Larson said, ‘Well, I’m gonna dominate. I’m going to dominate.’ He was dominating.”

Of course, Larson was dominating until *that* incident with Ryan Blaney occurred which effectively ended his day in Miami. However, had that not happened, Yung Money could very well have followed up his win in Vegas with another in Miami.

Larson explains his incident with Ryan Blaney

After his race ended in disappointment and earlier than what he would have expected, Kyle Larson described what happened with Blaney right before he hit the sand barriers at the start of the pit lane. “I don’t really know what I was thinking during the initial part,Larson said as per RACER.

“I was trying to stay off him as I knew I was going to probably hit him. I just locked the brakes up; I locked the fronts up and slid to the right and clipped the right side of his rear bumper, and that kind of shot me even more right into the barrels.”

The Hendrick driver added that while he was in control of his car, he didn’t expect Blaney to kick into the pit road speed as early as he did.
