Sunday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway was the last time Stewart-Haas Racing driver Kevin Harvick ever sat in the race car at the track. Harvick, who is due to retire at the end of the season, finished the race in second place after a spectacular finish against Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney. However, after the race, NASCAR decided to disqualify him after failing the post-race inspection.

Nonetheless, after having finished the final superspeedway race of his career, Harvick’s wife exclaimed how she was relieved that they would never have to come back to this specific race track ever again.
Kevin Harvick’s wife elated to never return to Talladega ever again
The SHR driver’s wife, DeLana Harvick, took to social media after the race and stated, “Alllllmost 🙃 While it didn’t end like we hoped, I’m taking Pops home in one piece never to return and I am ohhhhhh so grateful. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 #4EVER.”
You took the words right out of my wife’s mouth when I retired … we were so happy as a family to never have to go back to that place again .. https://t.co/ODWcxarm4t

Soon after her post, former NASCAR driver Elliott Sadler reiterated what DeLana mentioned and wrote, “You took the words right out of my wife’s mouth when I retired … we were so happy as a family to never have to go back to that place again…”
Now Talladega is not usually a place where the family members of drivers would be too pleased to have their loved ones race. While the racing itself at the superspeedway gets interesting, the dangers the drivers endure are too risky.
Talladega has a history of being infamous for wrecks
Ever since the track came into existence, it has been plagued with a series of violent incidents and fatalities. The track was built over an Indian burial ground. Even the first race at the venue back in 1969 was marred with several incidents with people often calling it one of the worst races to have ever taken place.
Interestingly, back in the day the track was not exactly called Talladega, despite being built there. Instead, it was known as the Alabama International Motor Speedway. Bill France wanted to build a track that would have been bigger and better than the Daytona International Speedway.
Some of the notable people to have wrecked in a horrible manner were the likes of Bobby Allison and Tiny Lund among others. Unfortunately, Lund tragically lost his life after an incident at the 1975 Talladega 500.
Aside from that, there have often been other incidents that have resulted in the track gaining infamy over the years. Considering all of this, it is only natural for the family members of the drivers to be relieved to never have to return to such a place ever again.
