Michael Jordan’s NASCAR Driver Emerges as Favorite Ahead of Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott to Win at Sonoma
If you think about it, and without even the need to think too hard, there’s not really a driver in NASCAR who is in as good form as Kyle Larson is in right now. In the last few weeks, Larson has been in contention to win all the races he’s taken part in, but while in some races he became an innocent victim, leading him out of that contention, in some he managed impressive results.
Having won the truck race as well as the million-dollar check at North Wilkesboro Speedway, the Truck race at Darlington, four top 5 finishes on top of his two wins in the Cup series along with his successes in his other ‘extra-curricular racing activities’, the #5 driver is looked at by some as the top contender to win it all in Phoenix later this year.
However, when it comes to the immediate future, in this Sunday’s race at Sonoma Raceway, Larson isn’t the favorite to win.
Kyle Larson second to 23XI Racing star at Sonoma as per odds
As per the odds, Kyle Larson is the 2nd most favorite driver to win at the road course track of his hometown. His outright odds to win, as per NBC Sports Edge Betting, are +475.
The driver who is the favorite to win the race at Sonoma, the driver who Larson sits second to, is Tyler Reddick of 23XI Racing. His outright odds to win are +450.
Reddick is the favorite to win ahead of names like Larson, Chase Elliott, William Byron, and Ross Chastain.
This is perhaps because of Reddick’s record on road courses as well as the fact that he won the race this season at COTA.

Which is Kyle Larson’s favorite road course racetrack on the NASCAR calendar?
As NASCAR has increased the number of slots of road courses over the years on the calendar, there have been plenty of such racetracks which all come with their pros and cons. But for Larson, there’s no road course better than the one he has near his hometown.
“I always love going back home and racing at Sonoma,” Larson said earlier this year as per Hendrick Motorsports. “Since I’ve been with Hendrick (Motorsports), I’ve raced well there. It’s kind of a flowy track. Tires wear out so you kind of manage your runs quite a bit. It’s got a lot of elevation change and I enjoy all that.”
So with Larson going back home to his favorite road course, with him also taking part in the Xfinity race, and with him being the second favorite to win it on Sunday, there are more than enough chances and factors for the man from Elk Grove to actually trump the favorite Reddick and take the checkered flag.
It will be his third win of the year and will almost certainly establish him as the favorite for this season’s Cup title.
