“14 Pairs of Underwear”: Obsessed With Hookah Bar T-Shirts, Shaquille O’Neal Reveals His Packing Strategy While Traveling
LA Lakers legend and the ever-so-entertaining Shaquille O’Neal recently spoke to GQ about his travel kinks in a lengthy interview. Shaq, whose work, business, and charity initiatives ensure that he generally has a packed schedule, talked about his packing strategies. O’Neal revealed that he never fails to pack a couple of hookah bar t-shirts, and would pack 14 pairs of underwear and tank tops for a 7-day trip.
Just to be safe, Shaq will also ensure that he has 7 polo t-shirts for a 7-day trip. This is independent of whether O’Neal is taking the trip for business or pleasure purposes.
Shaquille O’Neal details packing strategy while traveling, claims he is an over-packer
Shaq’s extravagant lifestyle and physical stature mean that he is bound to have some quirks when he travels. It seems as if that begins right from the way he packs for his trips.
Shaq revealed to GQ that he regularly overpacks, and would often take 14 pairs of underwear and tank tops for 7-day trips. His packing habits seem independent of even the type of trip that he is undertaking:
“I always go double. So, if it’s a seven-day trip, 14 pairs of underwear and 14 tank tops. What type of trip is it? If it’s a business trip, but not really, seven polo shirts, just in case. Then I go a couple pairs of jeans, a couple sweatsuits, a couple hookah bar t-shirts, belts, Reeboks, and Tom’s slip ons.”
When asked if he was an over-packer, Shaq quickly agreed:
“We came from China and I was looking at my bag, I didn’t touch damn near anything! I’m definitely an over-packer.”
He revealed that his unique packing habits were completely independent of even his needs. A recent trip to China saw him not touch most of the things that he had packed, which comes as no big surprise.
Shaquille O’Neal once bought a Hookah bar to hang out with the TNT cast
It seems as if apart from overpacking, Shaq is also fond of Hookah bars. Known to not be fond of drinking, he once found himself with his co-hosts after a shoot.
While the rest of the group wanted to drink including Charles Barkley, Shaq claimed that he had a “problem.” He soon returned and told the group that he had bought a Hookah bar where they could all sit and hang out.
Shaq on when he went to DJ in Slovenia:
“When I arrived at Luka’s town, some people picked me up. They drove me to a mansion that Luka had set me up. I had the pizza there. I had the hookah, I had the fruit… Mr. Onealovich, that’s what they call me over there”

O’Neal preferred to outrightly buy out the property, just so that he could have a place to socialize with his friends and colleagues. That kind of love obviously warrants him packing a couple of Hookah bar t-shirts on every trip.
