When a team talks about the Los Angeles Lakers, they often mention LeBron James and Anthony Davis and their impact on the team. What people overlook is the role players because of whom the team won their 17th NBA title last year.
These role players are very important to the Lakers as they give their everything to do as told by their leaders. One of the players for the supporting cast of Los Angeles is their forward Kyle Kuzma.
Kyle Kuzma has easily grown to an integral part of this Lakers team. From being an unknown to now having his importance felt in every game, the 25-year-old has definitely grown as a player. But Kuz hasn’t only grown on the court, but off the court too:
“A lot has happened to me. I got a little bit more money, I got a championship ring. I got a girlfriend. Got two dogs. I did a lot of growing up this year.”

Kyle Kuzma has been proving his worth by filling in for the absence of Anthony Davis this season
During the 2019-2020 season, Kyle Kuzma received tons of criticism for his poor performances. The criticisms were so harsh that even his own Lakers fan base didn’t support him through his bad phase.
Although, this past December, the Lakers organisation showed some confidence in him by signing him a three-year, $40 million extension. With Anthony Davis sidelined with injuries for 14 games in the first half of the season, Kuzma has done a tremendous job stepping up and helping LeBron James during AD’s absence.
Kuzma has also been named as one of the 57 finalists for the USA Men’s Olympic Basketball team. Kyle stated how it’s a big honour for him to be selected and will use this opportunity to better himself as a player.
Kyle Kuzma on Team USA: “It’s an extreme honor.” Says hopefully he’ll have a chance to redeem himself in the Olympics.

Despite the Lakers struggles right now, Kuzma is having the time of his life. The Lakers might not be where they envisioned themselves to be, but are still the favourites to win the title this year too. Luckily for Kuzma and the Lakers, they still have half a season remaining. They can use this time to turn things around in their favour as they hoped it to be.
