Al Horford's sister

Al Horford’s sister Anna Horford posted a tweet criticizing Sixers head coach Brett Brown at halftime. This came in the wake of the Sixers giving up a double-digit lead in the first half.

The Philadelphia 76ers started Game 2 on the front foot, establishing a 14-point lead midway through the first quarter. They looked to be on a mission to avenge a narrow Game 1 loss as a collective. Joel Embiid was asserting himself as the dominant interior player in the game, going for 11 points in the period.

But their fortunes changed in the second quarter as the Celtics reversed their fortunes. Sixers coach Brett Brown called two timeouts in the quarter – once with the score 36-40 in the Cs’ favour, and then at 41-52. His scheme changes and pep talks had precious little effect on the game as they entered halftime down 65-57.

Al Horford saw nearly 7 minutes of action in the second quarter, but had no plays drawn up for him. He took just one shot through the period, and was forced to switch onto perimeter players way too often.

This was probably what prompted his sister to share the following tweet from her handle:

If Anna Horford was of the belief that the criticism would cause a change in the Sixers’ fortunes, she would have been disappointed. The Celtics blew the game wide open in the 3rd quarter, outscoring them 33-18. Jayson Tatum finished the game with 33 points on 8-of-12 shooting from 3-point territory.

There’s an increasingly burgeoning faction of Sixers fans who want Brett Brown to be sacked. The Australian head coach has now held the post for 5 seasons, but the Sixers have not advanced beyond the second round of the playoffs so far.
