The Pheonix Suns rallied the valley and showed the Bucks who’s boss in Game 1. The host Suns took down the visiting Bucks 118-105 in a dominant Game 1 of the NBA Finals. The Suns had contributions from all of their key players, as they made sure that Giannis Antetokounmpo and co. had no chance to win the game.
Chris Paul and Devin Booker combined for 59 of the Suns’ 118 points. Paul ended the game with a game-high 32 points and 9 assists, while Booker added 27 points and 6 assists. Deandre Ayton had a massive game, scoring 20 points and grabbing 19 rebounds. Ayton was 1 rebound shy of recording his first 20/20 game and was about to do so when CP3 stole it.
NBA Twitter loses it as Chris Paul steals the rebound from Deandre Ayton
Deandre Ayton had a massive game in his first-ever NBA Finals. He was a force on the boards and provided timely scoring whenever the Suns needed it. He was about to record his first-ever 20/20 game when Chris Paul stole the 20th rebound at the last second possible.
While Ayton smiled it off, NBA Twitter wasn’t as forgiving. Despite CP3 leading the Suns to a win, all they cared about was the final rebound.
The Bucks and the Suns have a day off to regroup, as they face off on Thursday for Game 2 of the NBA Finals.
