"1 down, 3 to go CP3": LeBron James is rooting for Chris Paul to win the Suns their first ever NBA championship

LeBron James and Chris Paul have a friendship that has lasted for nearly 2 decades now. The Lakers star is pulling for CP3 in the NBA Finals.

LeBron is not in the NBA Finals for only the second time in the last 11 years. His absence has infused a breath of fresh air into the proceedings as both Milwaukee and Phoenix return to the Finals stage after extremely long hiatuses.

Chris Paul was in his element in his first-ever NBA Finals appearance tonight. While he started the game off slow, going scoreless in the first quarter, he caught fire mid-way through the game. Paul followed up an 11-point second quarter with a 16-point outing in the 3rd.

The Point God finished the night with 32 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the field. This scoring exhibit included some deep bombs as CP3 went 4-of-7 from downtown. He also dished out 9 dimes through the game, helping Deandre Ayton score a ton while rolling to the bucket.

LeBron James congratulates Chris Paul for his first NBA Finals win ever

LeBron congratulated his fellow banana boat member on social media as soon as the game clock expired. The Lakers star made sure to focus on the state of the series rather than CP’s personal performance in his tweet.

LeBron James and his Lakers lost to Chris Paul in their first-round faceoff. This was the first time in both players’ careers going up against each other in the playoffs.

Despite CP3 getting the better of his Banana Boat crewmate, James has put all that aside to root for his buddy in his Finals debut. It will be interesting to see whether James turns up at one of the games.

The Suns will be looking to capitalize on their irresistible offensive start through the rest of the series. Chris Paul currently looks like the favorite to win a Finals MVP trophy if he continues to play like this and the Suns win.
