"Ben Simmons is exactly who Skip Bayless thinks LeBron James is": NBA fans put Sixers star on blast after latest Game 7 meltdown

Ben Simmons might want to stay off social media for the next couple of days, because the criticism he’s facing is unreal.

If there was one player who we could anoint as the biggest disappointment of this season, it’d have to be him. The Aussie guard/forward  disappeared in their second round series – his 3rd such act in 3 playoffs. Simply put, Simmons’ situation with the Sixers is no longer tenable.

There is only so much patience that a front office and coaching staff could display with a player who’s not improved on perhaps the second most fundamental skill in basketball. Brett Brown tried it and failed, and not even a famously player-friendly coach like Doc Rivers could do it.

LeBron James raised Ben to a real pedestal in the latter’s rookie year. James has repeatedly called Simmons the ‘Young King’, but we all know how true that is.

NBA Twitter roasts Ben Simmons after pathetic game 7 performance

All of the LeBron James comparisons are now coming back to haunt the Sixers’ 25-year-old All-Star. Big Ben seems to be folding on NBA Twitter as we speak. Indeed, it’s been nearly 2 hours since the game concluded, but people still can’t get over his daft play.

The moment that confirmed that Ben has no future with the Sixers came in the 4th quarter. He expertly negotiated his defender and got 2 feet under the rim. But for some inexplicable reason, the 6’10” forward/guard passed it on to Matisse Thybulle.

Thybulle was flummoxed himself. All he could do was try and lay it in over his own defender. He was at least able to draw a foul, but the psychological damage to the team was already done.
