Early in the 2000s, the Los Angeles Lakers were ruling the world of basketball. With the dominant Shaquille O’Neal bull-dozing his opponents, and Kobe Bryant packing the perfect punch, the Lakers won three championships in a row. At the same time, a high-school kid was making waves in the basketball world. His name? LeBron James.

LeBron led his high-school team to a near-perfect season in his senior year. He was considered the best high-school prospect. Some even went as far as to claim that he was the next Michael Jordan.
On the other hand, Stephen Curry rose to stardom during his sophomore season at Davidson. He led the team on a historic NCAA run and made their way to Elite 8.
While these stars had a different path, the pair ruled the NBA in the 2010s. However, their paths had the same starting point.
Where were LeBron James and Stephen Curry born?
LeBron James was born on December 30th, 1984. His mother, Gloria James, gave birth to LeBron at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio.
Around three years and three months later, Stephen Curry was born on March 14th, 1988. His mother, Sonya Curry, gave birth at… You guessed it, Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio.

The two NBA superstars are not only connected by the same birth hospital and their four NBA Finals against each other. They both also won their first MVP honors in their sixth season in the league and followed it up with back-to-back MVP titles.
While the media always tries to pit the two stars against each other, they have always had good relations, right from Steph’s days at Davidson.

Stephen Curry once joked about theories people come up with around his and LeBron’s birthplace
Sharing the same birthplace with LeBron James is a huge flex on its own right, but also sharing the same hospital? I guess Akron General Medical Center had something special in the air. However, the two stars have heard different theories about their birthplace over the years.
Steph Curry shared one on Instagram live with his brother-in-law, Damion Lee.

It was incredible to see how Steph kept track of all the theories and used them as jokes when needed. He indeed knows how to entertain people on and off the court.
