Boston Celtics City Jersey 2021 : Boston Celtics reveal their new City Edition jerseys- Receive backlash from Boston fans
Boston Celtics City Jersey 2021 : Just moments ago, the Boston Celtics revealed their new City Edition jerseys; and fans were quick to roast them.
The Boston Celtics are one of the most storied franchises, not only in NBA history, but in sports history as a whole.
Almost every generation since the late 40s has seen one iteration of the Celtics win the championship atleast once in their lifetime. Whether it be the Red Auerbach Celts, the Larry Bird ones, or the ‘Big 3’ in 2008.
The Celts have almost always been synonymous with the definition of success. So, to emulate this, the Celtics decided to use their new City Edition jerseys.
However, the response to these jerseys hasn’t been the warmest to say the least.

Little over an hour ago, the Boston Celtics unveiled their new City Edition jerseys.
From the rafters to the parquet, it’s all about #TheBanner. pic.twitter.com/YVwvba5U1j

The design is supposed to mimic the font used on the 17 championship banners that hang from TD Garden arena. The promo for these jerseys explained how the Celtics only hang championship banners, not division banners.
They also took shots at the Los Angeles Lakers saying, “We only hang banners that were won for our city.”
What are the fans’ reactions to these jerseys?
The Celts are being dragged due to the unoriginality of these new jerseys. They claim that this is a very lazy design and that the designer, “needs to be fired.”
Though this is a great tribute to their storied history, the design is quite bland. Teams such as the Phoenix Suns and Orlando Magic outdid themselves with their City jersey designs.
Considering how legendary the Celts are, a little more though was expected when it came to their City jersey design
