“Both Choked in the 2nd Round”: Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson’s 3-PT Putt Competition Reminds Fans of Lakers Series Against LeBron James

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are two of the greatest 3-point shooters in basketball history. The Splash Brothers have four NBA championships together already. And to consider them done there would be a grave mistake. On and off the court, Steph and Klay have always shared great chemistry and interactions. The media, regarding Thompson’s performance, is a testament to that.  Their Golden State Warriors teammates are fully prepared for 2023 Capital One’s ‘The Match’ against NFL star Patrick Mahomes and his teammate Travis Kelce. While preparing for the face-off, the Warriors stars decided to have a 3-point putt competition against each other, and guess who won; the greatest 3-point shooter in NBA history. 

Curry and Mahomes are set to face each other on June 29, and looking for their first win. However, after watching the video, fans were not very hopeful for the Splash Brothers after seeing how many three-point putts they missed. However, it is largely considered that Steph is the best player among NBA and NFL stars. So that gives them a bit of hope for the 29th.

Fans Rip Stephen Curry And Klay Thompson After a Horrible 3-Point Putt Competition

During the 3-point putt competition, both Steph and Klay attempted 15 shots each. While the former managed to put in quite a few shots, Thompson only managed two in the hole. This certainly doesn’t give them a good look against their opponents. 

After watching the video on Twitter, fans roasted the Splash Brothers for playing horrible golf on camera. User @Matteo11839426 had a rather popular opinion on the whole ordeal.

Reacting to the video, they wrote, “Thank god they play basketball cause they are terrible at it.” It is not that these basketball players practice golf every day, and not being as good as a professional golfer is definitely not a big deal. Because they are excellent at what they do.

However, @4EROAL decided to bring the old wound home and spill salt on it. Reacting to the video, the fan wrote, “Both choked in the second round.” The Warriors faced an early exit in the 2023 playoffs. They were defeated by LeBron James and the Lakers in the second round.

Alluding to the poor performance by Thompson, @PeterSentongo10 said, “2023 playoff Klay sighted even in golf.”

Speaking of ‘The Match’, Charles Barkley said that he was picking Patrick and Travis over Steph and Klay. He has played against Curry and knows that he is a good gold player, but he has not seen Klay try his hands at golf, so he is a dark horse for him. He also added that he has played against Mahomes and Kelce, and he knows they are too good for the Splash Brothers. 

When it’s Charles Barkley, you know Shaquille O’Neal is not going to miss a chance at pulling his legs. Moreover, Big Shaq is a Curry fan, and he took to social media to let Charles know that not picking Curry over the NFL stars was a big mistake. In response to Barkley, the Big Diesel uploaded an unreal 97-yard shot by Curry that has also gained a lot of media attention.
