The Miami Heat were incredibly close to being on the absolute worst side of history. After Jimmy Butler went off during the first 3 games, the Boston Celtics came back to win 3 games of their own, setting up a Game 7 where they come back from down 0-3 at home. Caleb Martin, the Heat’s undrafted shooting guard, has been playing like a perennial All-Star all series long, with arguably his best game coming tonight. This led NBA Twitter to bring up more than just comparisons to Michael Jordan and blamed MJ for letting him leave his $1,700,000,000 Hornets franchise.

Since these Playoffs started, Jimmy Butler has been the man that everybody claimed was Michael Jordan’s son. Of course, this isn’t true but it’s fun to see the theories fans come up with. One such theory had Jordan playing a game in Atlanta 9 months before Butler was born in Atlanta, leading to even more of a controversy regarding the same.
NBA Twitter on the connection between Caleb Martin and Michael Jordan
NBA Twitter has been quite unforgiving to Michael Jordan, the majority stakeholder for the Charlotte Hornets, for waiving Caleb Martin 2 years ago and keeping his twin brother, Cody Martin, instead. After Caleb dropped 26 points on 11-16 shooting from the field in Boston tonight, the social media platform blew up.
Fans either went down the “Caleb Martin is Michael Jordan’s son,” route.
Caleb Martin might be Michael Jordan’s son too

where was Michael Jordan when Caleb Martin was born

Or they would go on to berate MJ for giving up Martin the first place. With the way he played for the Heat in all 7 of these games, many believed that he should’ve won Eastern Conference Finals MVP, also known as the ‘Larry Bird’ trophy.
Michael jordan waived Caleb martin by the way. Worst owner in sports history and it should affect his GOAT debates.

Caleb Martin’s stats for the series
Caleb Martin was an offensive spark plug that helped stretch the floor and bail the Miami Heat out on offensive possessions when it felt as though they had nothing going for them on possessions. He shot over 40% in every single game of the series and averaged 19.3 points on 60.2% shooting from the field.
Also, it should be noted that Caleb is not Michael Jordan’s son just like how Jimmy is not Jordan’s son either. There nothing substantial about these claims and it’s something fans say when they see a player play as good as Martin did.
