"Coach, put your mask on": Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum tells Kings' Luke Walton to wear his mask

Blazers’ star CJ McCollum tells Kings’ Head Coach Luke Walton to mask up, much like the rapper Future did to us all.

In the midst of a world-wide pandemic, there is a ray of hope once again. The NBA is back! The 2020-21 pre-season games kicked off today, as 10 teams faced off against each other for the scrimmage games. Since the current season is not going to be in a Bubble, the NBA issued a very comprehensive set of guidelines to be followed for health and safety.

The first preseason game for the Portland Trailblazers took place at the Moda center today. They faced off the Sacramento Kings for their first matchup. The Blazers had a good start, as they took down the Kings 127-102.

CJ McCollum asks coach Luke Walton to wear his mask

With a lot of NBA players and team staff testing positive recently. health and safety is a top priority. By the NBA guidelines, the coaches have to wear a mask at all times while in the match. While talking to the players from the scorer’s table, Walton had his mask off. CJ told coach Luke to put his mask on.

In this initial practice game, CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard looked like they made a good recovery from their injuries. Dame was sharp from beyond the arc and made a long 3 to start his scoring proceedings. Buddy Hield looked really good for the Kings as well.

However, the one player who caught my eye the most was Carmelo Anthony. Starting his 18th season in the NBA, the 36-year-old looked really sharp tonight. He scored a team-high 21 points in 23 minutes while grabbing 4 rebounds and dishing a pair of assists.

This 2020-21 Portland Trail Blazers team looks ready to go neck to neck with all the top teams in the NBA. According to me, if there are no injuries, they would be among the top teams in the West this season.
